Formation of In 2O 3 continues into the bulk either via migration of the adsorbed oxygen through the oxide layer to the metal-In 2O 3 interface or by the outward migration of indium cations to the surface. A high binding energy O (1s) peak becomes prominent after one monolayer of In 2O 3 has formed, which we ascribe to adsorbed oxygen on the oxide. The appearance of indium spectrum and the absence of the In 2 O 3 phase in the previous XRD patterns suggest that indium element is doped into the ZnO crystal. The In 3d spectrum of InZnO nanoparticles is shown in Fig. 2 peak, since the lower binding energy is characteristic for an indium. To further confirm the doping of indium into InZnO nanoparticles, XPS analysis was performed (Fig. Oxygen uptake is characterized by a moderately rapid formation of In 2O 3, with no preoxidation adsorbed O 2 phase discernable in the XPS spectra. 104 ' hot ' start 9 8 XPS Signal contribution 6 C - O / H, 02 5 10 15 20. The XPS peak at 284.8 eV, due to adventitious carbon, was used to calibrate the energy scale. Although no metallic indium or indium compound peaks were observed in the XRD patterns, the XPS data clearly show the presence of indium atoms on the sample surfaces. Sn 3d5 peaks, the pass energy was set to 29.35 eV, the scan resolution was 0.25 eV, and the neutralizer voltage was 1.0 V.

The chemisorption of oxygen on clean polycrystalline indium surfaces is investigated by the combined techniques of x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and the static mode of secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS). contain two additional peaks corresponding to indium In 3d Fig.
